Me and Mine Project – January roundup 18

Another new project for me, if you don’t know about the Me and Mine project already it’s quite simple. In essence, capturing your entire family in a photograph, once a month. That sounds simple enough, doesn’t it?

What I like about it is the purpose behind it.

One day your children will look back at photographs of themselves and they will want to see photos of you, their parents, in them as well. I don’t want to be the one missing from those pictures, (I’m always taking them, I’m quite camera-shy, I hate having my picture taken, I have a lazy eyelid, which renders me looking half cut, most of the time, which is ridic’ because I hardly ever drink).

I don’t want to keep making excuses or waiting for the perfect moment or right lighting, or whatever. I need to be present in these now. So as a sort of kick up the bum from myself to myself, I’m joining in. If you want to find out more about the original concept read it here. Lucy at Dear Beautiful explains it so perfectly in her summary, and that just clarified for me, why I want to do it.

‘So stop making excuses… get in front of that camera with your loved ones!’ -Lucy at Dear Beautiful.

Enough said.

January for us as a family has been slow, we hadn’t been anywhere to interesting, but that was ok. I think we all needed that. The lack of funds and the busyness of Christmas makes it easier to do that. We have spent some quality time at home just being in each others company, but I’ll say it now, I am ready for spring, I feel we need to get out of the house a bit more now. Cabin fever I think is creeping in.

There had been a bit of a change in the middle of the month, I went back to work after maternity leave. So the second half of the month has been about trying to find our new routine and seeing how we can manage babysitters etc. I think this is a little ongoing, I’m finding it a little harder to get back into the routine, I’m not rushing it, it’ll come. I have added blogging into the mix this time, which I didn’t need to contend with last time. I’m trying to figure out my time management a bit better, I’m not doing so well, I just haven’t worked out the best solution yet, so like I say that’s ongoing.

The photos for this month were taken in early February (oops, tad late), we went to the seafront to the Sealife centre, we had a really lovely day, and we did get a couple of really nice photos. I had a plan of where they were to be taken on the day, first attempt, Mollie had just gone for a nap, so we waited till we were heading home. Surprise, surprise another nap. Rather than wake her up, we just went with it.

Little hooray for not waiting for the ‘perfect moment’.

Do you know what, I actually didn’t mind it. I’m hoping if I can start to feel more comfortable in front of  the camera while doing this, its got to be worth it. Think of all the other things we can capture.

So here we are, my very first Me and Mine project post. I hope you enjoy it. Id love some feedback or a little love, give my confidence a little boost.

Exactly, I NEED to force myself to do it as much as possible, it’s about getting out of my comfort zone too. A little bit of therapy, maybe, ha.
